Board of Directors
MMRMA was created in 1980 pursuant to the laws of the State of Michigan, under which members enter into a Joint Powers Agreement (JPA). As such, MMRMA has been member-governed since its inception.
A ten-person Board of Directors is elected of—and by—the membership. They regularly evaluate and update MMRMA’s comprehensive Governance Manual to ensure that the organization is compliant with its guiding documents and that those documents are current and applicable to the evolving landscape of public entity risk pooling.
The Board of Directors also holds ongoing strategic planning discussions to develop and track its long-term priorities.
Committees
Over one hundred employees of MMRMA members take an active role in the organization by serving on four standing committees and ten risk control advisory committees. They lend their experience and expertise for the benefit of the entire membership.
