Member Benefits & Services
Marketing and Member Relations
MMRMA promotes the benefits of its services through in-house risk managers and a network of regional risk management agencies across Michigan. These risk managers represent MMRMA when discussing coverage and costs, act as liaisons between MMRMA and its members, and present annual renewal questionnaires and renewal proposals to current members.
Legal Services
Defense counsel for MMRMA members is provided by several Michigan law firms with expertise in municipal risk exposure. These firms have litigation experience in all areas of local government operations.
MMRMA also retains general counsel to provide legal advice to the Board of Directors and the Executive Director on matters that directly affect the organization.
Investment and Auditing Services
With oversight and direction from the Board of Directors and the Investment Committee, MMRMA’s investment portfolio is diversified to provide consistent returns in both up and down markets with the assistance of an investment manager. An independent evaluation of portfolio performance is conducted regularly to ensure compliance with pre-determined guidelines.
Nationally recognized experts in the area of public entity pooling audit MMRMA’s financial records annually and prepare actuarial analyses of MMRMA’s retained risk.
